Penny Sue (Franck) Vanous, 51, of Rowley, Iowa, died Sunday, August 31, 2008. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; three daughters, Jill Vanous of Marion, Amy (Ryan) Hudson of Milan, Illinois and Amanda (Jason Smith) Vanous of La Porte City; one son, Adam Vanous of Ames; one grandchild on the way; and siblings, Larry Franck, Nancy (Jim) Snodgrass, David (Maxine) Franck, Dale (Nancy) Franck, Diane Franck, Gale Franck, Terry Lown, Lori Franck and Dennis (Connie) Franck all of Cedar Rapids.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean Franck, Calvin Franck and Paul Franck; sister, Gloria Franck; sister-in-law, Carol Franck; and her dog, Bubba.
Penny was born March 6, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Perry and Louise (Strait) Franck. She graduated from Washington High School. On July 15, 1978, she married Donald Vanous in Cedar Rapids. Penny farmed with her husband.
Penny’s joys included riding her bike, mowing the grass, baking, cooking and taking care of her animals. Her greatest joy was being a mother, wife and housekeeper.
