Theresa (Peggy) McCright, 87, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Troy Mills, died Sunday, August 21, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, of a short illness. Private graveside services will be held at Troy Mills Cemetery by the Rev.Kathy Roys. Casket bearers will be Patricia McCright, Bryan Dietman, Darren Jason Baty, Fred Nekola, Kim Baty, Angelia McCright and Devan Baty. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, Mark (Patricia) McCright of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathleen McCright and Eileen (Bryan) Dietman both of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Angelia, Aaron, Darren, Devan, Timothy, and Christopher; seven great-grandchildren; dear neighbors, Edie and Fred Nekola; and her beloved dog, Mollie. She was preceeded in death by her parents; first husband, Melvin Ross; two brothers, Thomas Galloway and Harry Galloway; two great-grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Sally and Millie.
Peggy was born April 13, 1918, in Parma, Missouri, the daughter of William Owen and Florence (Fowler) Galloway. On August 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Ralph L. McCright. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1984. Ralph and Peggy farmed together until 1983, and for seventeen years she worked at the Mental Health Institute in Independence. She was active in the Cedar Valley Humane Society, loved roses, crafts, was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She also loved driving her little red car, Rosebud.
