Peggy Ann (Jones) Hergert

Peggy Ann (Jones) Hergert, 92, of Benton, Illinois, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, November 22, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Peggy was born on May 8, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John “Jay” and Bess (Dunbar) Jones. She attended Roosevelt High School. Peggy was united in marriage to Harry W. Hergert on July 27, 1944, in Anamosa, Iowa; the couple shared 65 wonderful years together. To this union, three children were born: Bonnie Sue, Donna Louise and Terryl Jay. She was a dedicated homemaker, raising her family and caring for her home. Peggy was of the Methodist faith.\
Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Dennis) Dial; son, Terry Hergert; four grandchildren, Eric (Jami) Dial, Amanda Dial, Zachary (Kalee) Hergert, and Malorie (Nick) Montague; and two great-grandchildren, Riley James Dial and Colton James Montague.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Bess Jones; her husband, Harry Hergert; daughter, Bonnie Louise Hergert; a half-sister, Jean Bye; and a half-brother, Urban Wescott.
