Pauline (Kinkead) Rick, 78, of 2056 49th St., Marion, died Monday, September 10, 2007 at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 10:30, Friday, September 14, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Mike Morgan. Friends may call on Thursday, September 13, 2007, from 4 ?" 8 p.m. Burial: Oakshade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include three daughters: Cynthia Rick (and Forrest Meyer) of Marion, Susan (Mark) Paeper of Ankeny, and Robin Cook of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Amanda & Stephanie Cook of Cedar Rapids, and Raina & Hayley Paeper of Ankeny. Also, surviving are several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Melvin Kinkead, Mable Ash, Mildred Waite, Marion Kinkead, Molly Perez, Betty Beck, Dwayne Kinkead, and Lula B Talyat.
A lifelong resident of Marion, Pauline was born July 16, 1929, the daughter of Amos and Berniece (Bieber) Kinkead, in Marion, Iowa. She graduated from Marion High School in 1947 and participated in last Saturday’s Swamp Fox Festival parade with her class. She married Robert R. Rick on June 11, 1950 at First United Methodist Church in Marion. He died on May 2, 2002. Pauline was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a longtime stylist at the Charm Beauty Shop in Marion and had been employed at Square D and Rockwell Collins.
Pauline enjoyed playing cards and especially Pinochle on Thursdays at Lowe Park. She was well known for her love of cooking, canning, and gardening.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Mercy Plaza Dialysis Center for the wonderful care Pauline received.
