Pauline Elizabeth Kaster, 73, of 6325 Rockwell Drive N.E., died Saturday, August 6, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Per Pauline?s wishes, a private family burial with take place at a later date at Woodbury United Methodist Cemetery in Woodbury, Minnesota. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Timothy) Palm of Marion and Barbara (Dan Sigmon) Collins of Apex, North Carolina; brothers, Leo Kenkel, Donald (Arlene) Kenkel, Bernard Kenkel, all of Woodbine, Iowa, and Ed (Lee Ann) Kenkel of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; and two sisters, Mary Ann Kenkel of Woodbine, Iowa, and Marge (Mike) Calder of Omaha, Nebraska.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Caroline Kaster Collins, Kirby Christopher Collins, Jr. and Austin James Palm. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, two sisters-in-law, a granddaughter and two nephews.

Pauline was born December 30, 1931, in Logan, Iowa, to Bernard and Caroline (Mumm) Kenkel. She married James W. Kaster on August 20, 1955 in Woodbine, Iowa. He died September 1, 1995, in Woodbury, Minnesota. Pauline graduated from Woodbine High School and received her RN degree from Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Council Bluffs. Pauline was a private duty nurse for over forty years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Mercy Medical Center Foundation in Cedar Rapids, Iowa or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine, Iowa, in Pauline?s memory.
