Pauline Frank Marner, a longtime Cedar Rapids resident, went into the presence of the Lord in her sleep and without any pain on July 22, 2012. To God be the Glory! Pauline loved the Lord and especially His words in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Pauline was born to Ralph and Margaret Frank on March 14, 1928 near Lisbon, Iowa, graduated from Springville High School in 1945, and from Coe College in 1955 with a degree in English. While at Coe, Pauline was the President of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After she graduated from Coe, she married David L. Marner, also a 1955 Coe graduate, on August 19, 1955. She taught at Viola High School and Mid-Prairie High School while Dave attended Iowa Law School.

After three years as a United States Air Force spouse, Pauline and Dave returned to Cedar Rapids in 1962, where she was a loving homemaker for over 50 years. Pauline was also very active in volunteer work. She was president of the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Cedar Rapids Symphony Guild, Questers #5 Turner Alley and her PEO Chapter HJ. She also served as a docent at Brucemore in Cedar Rapids and as a deacon in the Presbyterian Church.

Pauline is survived by her husband Dave, her son, David Jr., her son, Trent, and her daughter-in-law, Wendy, all of Cedar Rapids, her daughter, Paula and her son-in-law, Mark Schmidt of Florence, South Carolina, as well as six grandchildren, Wreece, Kayla, Elijah, Aryn, Thaddeus and Angelia, all of Cedar Rapids. She cared for and loved all of them very passionately.

Pauline is also survived by her sister, Cleo (William) Haynes, two nephews, Frank (Patty) Haynes and Kurt (Laine) Haynes, as well as one first cousin, Zoe (Roger) Hill, all of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Darrell Frank and her twin sister, Geraldine Frank.

A Memorial Service will be held for Pauline at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Homes and Cremation Service are handling all arrangements.

The family of Pauline would like to especially thank her doctors, her caregivers at Cottage Grove Place, Mercy Hospital, Mercy Home Care and Hospice of Mercy. Their love and compassion was beyond measure.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to be made to Calvin-Sinclair Presbyterian Church, Westminster Presbyterian Church, or Hospice Of Mercy.

To all of you: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 1:4
