Pauline K. Bervid, 91, of Urbana, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Urbana. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Pauline was the daughter of William and Tillie (Simanek) Barta. She was born and raised on a farm on Wright Bros. Blvd. near the Eastern Iowa Airport. Pauline was married to Donald Bervid for 73 years until his death. A devout Catholic, she was proud of her Czech heritage and was blessed to be able to speak the Czech language. The place she most liked to be was in church. Pauline spent hours in prayer each day and never went by another church without going in for “just for a minute”. The most important things in her life were her children and religion. St. Padre Pio was her patron saint. She loved gardening, animals, nature, and the simple things in life. She was a dairyman until the age of 77 and loved being a vendor at the local farmer’s markets. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed the weekly Wednesday morning adoration. Pauline will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Susan Bowen, Jeff Bervid, David Bervid, JoAnn Carstensen, and Tom Bervid; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, William and Tillie Barta; husband, Donald Bervid; son, Donald Jr.; sisters, Henriette Miller, Gladys Wears and Dorothy Kirvanek; and son-in-law, Ev Bowen.
