P. Genevieve Quaas, 84, of Alburnett, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2010, at Alburnett Christian Church, by Rev. Dan Peterson. The family will greet friends from 4 – 8 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa. Inurnment: Lafayette Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Roy; her children, Richard Quaas of Ithaca, New York, Max (Linda) Quaas of Decorah, Iowa, and Mary (Tommy) Moore of Alburnett; 4 grandchildren, Joshua (Claudia) Quaas, Justin (Pasha) Quaas, Jennifer (Jason) Johnson, and Jill (Terry) Logston; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters, Marie Pearson and Ellyn Schmickle.
Genevieve was born August 16, 1925, the daughter of Herman Albert William and Florence (Lillie) Koch, in Alburnett, Iowa. She married Roy Quaas December 8, 1943, at Brookfield Farm in Linn County. She was a proud homemaker and farm wife. Genevieve was a member of the Alburnett Christian Church and a member of the Alburnett Historical Society. She loved reading, playing bridge, and flower gardening.
Genevieve was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched so many lives within her community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Genevieve’s memory.
