Paul D. Wilcox, 84, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, October 13, 2002, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Randy Bobzien of the First Baptist Church. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Garnet; four daughters, Sharon (Harold) Jacobs of Independence, Linda (Harry) Odeen of Cedar Rapids, Paula Wilcox of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Jim) Thomas of Marion; a sister, Viola Schlemme of Monticello; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; and an infant daughter, Nancy.

Paul was born July 21, 1918, in rural Linn County, the son of Leo and Nellie (Sosesbe) Wilcox. On April 3, 1939, he married Garnet Knapp in Central City. The couple farmed in Linn County before moving to Marion in March of 1959. Paul worked for 52 years for Vigortone Products and also for 18 years with the Cedar Rapids Schools, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Marion. Paul also was an avid bowler and sponsored the Vigortone bowling team.
