Paul D. Wenger, of Anamosa, formerly of Coggon, died Monday, August 10, 2009, at Silvercrest of Anamosa. Services: 3:15 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City, by Rev. Nick Needham. The family will greet friends 1:00 ?" 3:00 p.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Forrest Wenger; children, Susan (Gary) Halstead, Russell (Mary Ann) Wenger, Charles (Jean) Wenger, and a “special daughter”, Margaret Ann (Patton) Phillips; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one soon to be, great-great-grandchild.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Genevieve Woodward, and Laurene Barton.

Paul was born October 18, 1916, in Alburnett, to Harry and Ione (Lyon) Wenger. He was a graduate of Alburnett High School. On August 12, 1939, Paul was married to Marie Forrest at Marie’s parent’s home south of Coggon. Paul worked at Peter Pan Bakery, Mongomery Wards, and Dowing Box in Cedar Rapids, and farmed for more than forty years. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Central City.
