Paul W. Long, 46, of Manchester, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, November 5, 2002, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial with military rites will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
Paul was born on August 22, 1956 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Kenneth P. & Dorothy B. (Behymer) Long. Paul attended school in the Waterloo area, graduating in 1972. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1973 to 1975 in Georgia and in North Carolina. After his discharge Paul attended Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo then drove truck. In 1989 Paul moved to Manchester where he worked at Bacon Salvage. On March 27, 2000, Paul was united in marriage to Cindy L. Miller, in Manchester. Paul enjoyed embroidering and latch hook, building scale models and fishing.
Paul is survived by his wife, Cindy Long, of Manchester; his father, Kenneth Long of Waterloo; a son, Anthony Long; step-daughter, Stephanie Miller, both of Manchester; three step-sons, Brandon Minor of Manchester, Steven Minor of Cedar Falls, and Jeremy Minor of Peoria Arizona; two sisters, Sonja Berger and her husband, Ted of Morris, IL, Mary Miller of Lamont; four brothers, George Long and his wife, Linda of Waterloo, David Long and special friend, Dee Mangold of Dundee, Darwin Long of Manchester and Kevin Long and his wife Nancy, of Dundee; brother-in-law, Gary Miller of Manchester, three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Long and an infant daughter.
