Paul Kladivo, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Tom McDermott. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where a Vigil service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Rose “Louie”; his children, Joseph (Karen) Kladivo of Mt. Vernon, Cheryl (Doc) Rolfe of Guttenberg, Cindy Rex of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Doug (Diane) Kladivo of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Nicole, Desiree, Tarin, Bianca, and Courtney; six great-grandchildren, Clayton, Carter, Nevaeh, Jayce, Juelz and Victor; son-in-law, Fred Longeway of Gastonia, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Kay Kladivo of Traer; and sister, Barbara Boyer of Sacramento, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rosanne Longeway; sister, Theresa Ahmad; brother, Edwin Kladivo; grandson-in-law, Todd Weaver and brother-in-law, Lynn Boyer.
Paul was born December 21, 1928, the son of Frank and Irene (Benedict) Kladivo, in Clutier, Iowa. On November 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Rose “Louie” Gallo in Cedar Rapids. A graduate from Traer High School, Paul worked for FMC until the plant closing in 1984 after 32 years of service. He also worked part-time for Midland Forge. After FMC closing, Paul worked for Pospisil Painting and Ace Hardware.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, working with crafts, music and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church and a long time member of the UAW.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dennis & Donna Hospice House of Mercy in memory of Paul.
