Paul Eugene Buchanan

Paul Eugene Buchanan, 84, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Hallmar Village. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at King of King Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Paul was born on January 6, 1940, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Don and Edith (Wood) Buchanan. After graduating from Waterloo West high school, he served honorably in the United States Army and the Iowa National Guard. On January 25, 1964, Paul was united in marriage to Sheryol Judeen Werner in Hampton, Iowa. He worked for Buchanan Candy Company, and then Professional Office Service in Waterloo. He was transferred to California in 1975 and worked in sales until his retirement in 2010. Paul was a member of the Waterloo Elks (past Exalted Ruler) and King of Kings Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He traveled extensively, was an avid reader, and spent much time at Clear Lake boating, fishing, and teaching his grandkids to water ski. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Sheryol of Marion; daughter, Heidi (Steve) Adams of Solon, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicholas Adams, Cody Buchanan, Tyler Buchanan, and Parker Adams; and sister, Carol (Phil) McCombs of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Troy Buchanan; and sister, Donalee Landau.
