Patrick “Patty” Daniel Cummings, 67, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday August 13, 2014, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Service: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa with an additional visitation one hour prior to service time. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Sandy) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Brenda (Eric) Meyer of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Lisa (Jess) Streif of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; stepchildren, Jason (Karin) Martin-Hiner of Strawberry Point, Iowa, and Melissa (Brian) Reynolds of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Garret, Logan, Ryan, and Taitum Meyer, Chloe, Mia, and Aron Streif; two step-grandchildren, Gabriel and Mikayla Hiner; two sisters, Colleen (Steve) Camp of Fairfax, Iowa, and Cherri (Bill) Polton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nieces Kate Heuer and Maria, Amanda and Samantha Polton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike.
Patrick was born on January 14, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of John and Imogene (Brady) Cummings. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1969. On January 27, 2001 he married Sandra Gogel in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Patrick was a pipefitter and a member of Local 125 Plumbers and Pipefitters Association for 43 years. Pat enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed time camping, being outdoors and fishing on the river.
Patrick has donated his body to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine for scientific purposes. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Isidore’s Cemetery, Springville.
