Patrick F. Lynott, 94, a resident of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, November 15, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 19 2010, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. David O'Connor. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include 5 children, Patrick F. (Sharon) Lynott, Jr. of Marshalltown, Joseph (Deborah) Lynott of Mt. Vernon, Rose (Russ) Ubben of Oelwein, Nancy Lynott (John Drozda) of Sacramento, California, and Bob (Kelly) Lynott of Robins; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, who died February 21, 2006; his parents; a son, John; and a granddaughter, Kathleen.
Patrick was born May 16, 1916, the son of John and Agnes (Wagner) Lynott, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Cedar Rapids. Patrick married Mildred Zelezny on October 8, 1940, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they farmed in rural Mt. Vernon for 65 years and Patrick worked at FMC for 15 years.
