Patrick Owen Leonard, 71, of 789 Jappa Road, Ely, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at home, of diabetes and kidney failure. Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 24, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4-8, Wednesday, April 23, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Thursday, at the church. Burial: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; his children, Larry (Becky) Leonard of Waterloo, Terry (Debbie) Leonard of Toddville, Dan (Dawn) Leonard and Debra (Jeff) Post of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Sue) Leonard of Ely; sisters, Jean Marshall and Linda (Dennis) Norton, of Cedar Rapids; brothers, Jack (Sheryl) Leonard of Anamosa, Doc (Pat) Leonard of Rock Island, and Jim (Janice) Leonard of Cedar Rapids; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Helen Glanz, Peg Haas, Lois Foarde, Bill Leonard, and a son-in-law, Steve Harford.
Patrick was born September 27, 1931, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the son of Owen Francis and Mary Marcella Supple Leonard. He married Lorraine Lee Taylor on May 22, 1953, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Anamosa. He was a lifelong member of Local 831. Patrick was a welder at Iowa Man and Cedarapids, Inc. for 44 years. He served in the United States Army. He loved hunting, fishing and most of all, his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy and the Ely Fire Department in memory of Patrick.
