Pat Topping, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Pam (Mike) Grecian, and Kelly Mitchell, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Joshua and Jared Hanson, Melissa Grecian and Alex Mitchell; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Hanson; siblings, Dean (Zoe) Bark of Waterloo, Iowa, Janice Schader of Minnesota, and Nancy Bark of Postville, Iowa; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Hawkin and Jack Ries.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Robert Schader; and siblings, Robert, Ray and Dale Bark, Betty Boise, Ruth Hawkin, Dorothy Postel, Joyce Ries, Clara Bark and infant sister.
Pat was born on September 10, 1935, in Randalia, Iowa, daughter of Louie and Marjorie (McLeich) Bark. She graduated from Randalia High School in 1952. Pat worked at Collins Radio until 1962, when she quit so she could raise her family. On September 20, 1959, she married Kenneth Topping at St. James United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Pat later worked for Jefferson High School as a librarian. She volunteered at the food bank on 3rd Avenue and at Mercy hospice bringing around the coffee cart to families and patients. Pat enjoyed flower gardens, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter was her biggest joy. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church Quilting Club and the adult coloring group.
