Patricia “Pat” Nefzger, 78, passed away from a sudden illness, surrounded by her family at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Saturday, September 17, 2016. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a 4:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Earlville, Iowa, officiated by Rev. Dennis Quint. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Pat was born September 15, 1938, in Rewey, Wisconsin, the daughter of Loretta Heins. Pat married Arthur Nefzger on April 10, 1958. Pat enjoyed taking care of others, making her famous coleslaw, potato salad, and “Artie” burgers. She loved playing cards, traveling to see her children, listening to music – especially Elvis and classic country, and watching movies with her grandchildren. Pat’s greatest love was her family, children and grandchildren.
Pat is survived her husband, Art; children, Suzy Cockran of Las Vegas; Jeff Nefzger of Earlville, Margie Nefzger of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Chris (Becky) Nefzger of Manchester, Frank (Ellen) Nefzger of Bloomfield Township, Michigan, Jodi (Sean) Blake of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren, Chastity Nefzger, Nick and Brandon Cockran, Brandi and Allison Nefzger, Shari (Garrett) Soppe, William, Brianna, Sonya, and Harley Nefzger, Matthew and Amber Nefzger, Emily and Keira Blake; twelve great-grandchildren, seven brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother; mother and father-in-law; and her grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
