Patricia "Patty? Louise (Jenkins) Kochuyt, 41, of Alburnett, Iowa, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, as a result of an automobile accident. Joint services for Patty and her son, Jake, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005, at Toddville Free Methodist Church, Toddville, Iowa, by the Rev. Doug Morris, Rev. Mark Jenkins and Rev. Dan Peterson. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett, Iowa. Friends may call at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, from 2 - 6 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include her husband, Chris; a daughter, Heather Stolarz and son, Matthew Stolarz, all of Alburnett; her father, Charles Jenkins of Gilbertville, Iowa; her brothers and sisters, Robert (Vicki) Jenkins of Gilbertville, Iowa, Marshal (Jill) Jenkins of Lemar, Missouri, James (Tracy) Jenkins of Oakwood, Texas, Mark (Theresa) Jenkins of La Porte City, Iowa, Mary Graves of La Porte City, Iowa, Michael (Becky) Jenkins of Saginaw, Texas, and Joseph (Penny) Jenkins of La Porte City, Iowa; her in-laws, Bob and Melinda Kochuyt of Ladora, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Jenkins; brother, Charles Jenkins Jr.; and son, Jake Kochuyt, who died in the accident with her.
Patty was born February 6, 1964, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Michels) Jenkins. She graduated with the Class of 1982 from La Porte City High School. On November 7, 1998, she was united in marriage to Christopher M. Kochuyt in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Patty was employed at MCI in Cedar Rapids. She was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary at Hamilton Fire Company in Trenton, New Jersey, where she was a member for eight years.
Patty enjoyed walks with Jake and spending time with her family. She loved to ski in her younger years. She also enjoyed camping (including her expertise in fire-starting) and enjoyed experimenting with cooking (no matter the outcome.) Patty liked to listen to KHAK. She will be remembered for her love of Diet Pepsi. She always made sure her family came first and was taken care of. Patty was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Patty was an organ donor and would be proud that she helped others with her gift.
