Patricia A. Grady, 54, of 440 Valleyview Drive, Marion, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Peg Esperanza of Church of The Holy Spirit, M.C.C. of Des Moines. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.

Survivors include her children, Larry (Tabby) Staton of Cedar Rapids, Lori (Carl) Troendle of Marion, Lonnie (Jesse) Grady of Hiawatha; a stepdaughter, Cathy (Randy) Nguyen of Cedar Rapids; goddaughter, Misty Dawn Racz of Hiawatha; eight grandchildren; a brother, Harold Racz of Ayers, Massachusetts; seven sisters, Alice (Lee) Sorensen of Hillsboro, Texas, Carol Staton of Manchester, Iowa, Elaine Owens of Columbus, Mississippi, Diana (Michael) Lindsey of Palo, Iowa, Theresa Racz of Hiawatha, Iowa, Jonnie Canter of Hammond, Wisconsin, and Echo (Randy) Willis of Lexington Park, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne David Grady; her mother, Mable Racz; biological and adopted fathers; a grandson, A. J. Staton Harris; two brothers, LeRoy Racz and Leslie Ockenfels; a niece; and a nephew.

Patricia was born June 15, 1948, the daughter of Mable (Montaque) and Harold Ockenfels, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On July 26, 1974, she was united in marriage to LaVerne David Grady in Rock Island, Illinois. He died October 15, 2001. Patricia loved to gamble at Mesquaki in Tama, paint, collect thimbles, crafts and coffee. She enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, and playing yahtze and cribbage. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
