Patricia Karen "Patty" (Daggett) Feild, 81, a life-long resident of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha.
Born June 22, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, she married Jack A. Feild at St. Jude's Catholic Church on February 8, 1964. Jack passed February 5, 2020. To this union three children were born: James B. "Jim" (Joann Griffith) Feild, Susan M. (Feild) Kahler, both of Cedar Rapids; KariAnn P. (Jim) Plowman, Marengo, Iowa.
She attended St Patrick's Catholic school, Cedar Rapids, Ottumwa Heights College, Ottumwa, Iowa and Mount Mercy College, Cedar Rapids. She was employed over the years at JS Cook Company, Aramark at Amana Refrigeration Cafe, and Casey's - making those morning donuts, but her full-time love was her children. She lived for her children.
Her sewing skills were exceptional, many a family and friend's bridesmaid and wedding gowns were her creations. She was also known for her floral designs and over the years provided many stunning centerpieces, bridal boutonnières, bouquets, hall, and church decorations.
When her children were young, she was active with Cub scout and Girl Scout groups. Her sweet, delicious, oven-baked beans were always requested at all family gatherings.
Patty was the granddaughter of Lithuanian immigrants, the late Adam and Agnes (Martin) Bizulis, who chose Cedar Rapids as their forever home in the early 1900s. Also, granddaughter of the late Ida (Greer) Daggett and Jno Dysart, owners of the beloved Dysart Candy & Ice Cream Parlor at that time on First Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids. Patty's late parents, Helen Agnes (Bizulis) and Hugh Junior Daggett managed the family candy store where Patty could be found behind the ice cream, soda fountain, and candy counters. Next to the store was her grandmother's house and next to it was the meat market where she met her husband, Jack.
In addition to her children, she is survived by six grandchildren: Jacob J. "Jake" Feild, Cristeen M. (Kyle Harkness) Feild, William J. "BJ" (Jessica Von Stein) Feild all of Cedar Rapids, Eric J. (Angelina Chadwick) Plowman of Ladora, Iowa, Trisha A. (Adrian McArtor) Feild of Hiawatha, Iowa, Kayla M. Plowman, of Marengo; five great grandchildren: Aryanna M. Feild, Ryker J. Feild Harkness, Christian J. Plowman, Easton J. Feild McArtor, Benjamin C. Plowman, and one more expected in October; step-grandson, Xavier S. Chadwick; her sisters: Nikki M. Bracy of Springville, Iowa, and Tina L. (Andrew T. Staubly) Daggett of Los Angeles, California; many dearly loved nephews and nieces, grand and great-grand nephews and nieces, cousins; and friends who were her honorary family members.
Patty was predeceased by her grandparents, parents, husband, aunts, uncles, and younger sisters, Pam S. (Daggett) Kramer Exley in 2013, and Sandy L. (Daggett) David in July 2023.
The family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all those who provided care to Patty in these past weeks, months, and years. Without you, we wouldn't have had her as long as we did: The caring staff of Oldorf Hospice House, Mercy Medical Center 4th floor; and the doctors.
