Patience Marie Philipp Jellen, 60, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 22, 2014. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Dennis Juhl. A vigil service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends following the service until 8:00 p.m. A visitation also will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughters, Amee (Brad) Bumba, and their children, Alex and Addy, Jaime (Dennis) Goedhart and their children, Gavin and Gage, and Linsey (Andre) Banks and their son, Ryder; her siblings, Faith (Steve) Seehawer, Teresa (Gerald) Byrne, Fred (Jennifer) Philipp, Jr, Hope Hugh, Charity (Terry) Schneekloth, Mary (Bill) Brecht, Patricia (John) Roberts, Philip (Jeanne) Philipp, James (Cheri) Philipp, Anne Ranard, David (Teresa) Philipp, Christina (Thomas) Anderson and Paul Philipp; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Emily Philipp; brother, Daniel Philipp; brother-in-law, Rhinard Hugh; and her nieces and nephews, Keri Philipp, Tabitha Hugh, Emma Hugh, Doug Philipp and Drake Whitters.
Patience was born July 14, 1953, the daughter of Fred “Fritz” and Emily (Tomas) Philipp, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Patience was married to Richard Jellen for 29 years. She had a long career at Alliant Energy. Following her retirement, she established her own business, “A Clean Sweep of Cedar Rapids.” Patience was a member of St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church.
Patience was a beautiful, caring, supportive and fun loving person. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Patience’s memory.
