Pamela was born on August 30, 1951, in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of Caroline (Fuhrmeister) and Robert W. Touchberry, Sr. She graduated from Champaign Centennial High School in 1969 and went on to attend the University of Illinois. Pamela enjoyed playing the piano in her youth, and the clarinet in the high school marching band. In addition Pam participated in 4-H cooking sewing and craft activities with her friends during the high school and early college years. Then starting early in 1972 and for the rest of her life Pamela dealt with schizophrenia as best she could. The effort for mental control and clear thought did not always win, but she succeeded in being personally responsible for all of her actions and agreed to admission into care facilities for treatment until 2015. Pam read the application documents and signed herself in to Heritage in June of 2014. Only after that late date in her life did she need a guardian and conservator. From the early 1990s Pamela lived in Abbe Center, then Evergreen on 16th avenue, and finally at the Heritage Specialty Care facility on 200 Clive Drive. Despite the difficulties Pam retained a sense of humor (as the Heritage staff and hospice team can attest) until the end.
Survivors include her siblings, Robert W. (Jennifer) Touchberry, Jr. of Longmont, Colorado, Lee (Cindy) Touchberry of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Alan (Marlene) Touchberry of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; many cousins; and her two lifelong friends, Dala and Suzy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Caroline and Robert W. Touchberry, Sr.
