Pamela Sue Hand (Abernathy)

Pamela Sue Hand, 51, of 141 Brighton Circle SW, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Al Biere. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her father, Corwin Abernathy of Scarborough, Maine; her fiancé, Michael Chalupa of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Martin Richter; her beloved pets, Daisy, Savannah, Nicki, and Journey; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband; and her brother, Gary.
Pamela was born September 26, 1956, the daughter of Corwin and Kathleen (Wasson) Abernathy in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Marion High School in 1974 and Mt. Mercy College in 1992. Pamela married Allen “Buzz” Hand on August 28, 1982, in Center Point. He died January 12, 2004. Pamela was co-founder of the Buzz Hand Open Golf Tournament for charity. She was a member of Blair Ridge Baptist Church.
A memorial fund has been established in Pamela’s memory.
