Pam (Way) Carpenter, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long battle with cancer. Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Volga, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pam was born December 2, 1948, in Volga, Iowa, the daughter of Calvin and Norma (Moore) Way. She graduated from high school and attended beauty school in Cedar Rapids. Pam was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Carpenter on September 6, 1969, in Volga, Iowa. She worked at Kirkwood College, retiring in 2010. Previously, Pam volunteered for College Community Schools. She looked forward to having lunch with the “Birthday Club” and monthly visits with Kirkwood retirees. Pam enjoyed crafting, baking, and fishing. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, friends, and snuggling with her grandchildren.
Pam is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joe Carpenter of Cedar Rapids; son, Terry (Laura) Carpenter of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Tracy (Dean) Panos of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; four grandchildren, twins, Quentin and Alex Carpenter, Ethan Kesterson and Ainsley Panos; father, Calvin Way of Independence, Iowa; brother, Don (Tricia) Way; sisters, Debra (Winton Barth) Wessels and Lisa (Don) Dudley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Way.
