P. Howard Goetz, 90, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, formerly of Des Moines, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at the care center of complications of Parkinson?s Disease. Memorial Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Des Moines by Rev. Kip Harris. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment: Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Local arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his children Craig (Patrice) Goetz of Henderson, Nevada and Debra (David) Sjulin of Marion; five grandchildren, Jeff (Mindy)Goetz, Kelly Goetz, Ryan DeBerg, Sarah Sjulin and Alex Sjulin; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Goetz and Peyton Goetz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Howard was born March 14, 1915, the son of John and Vivia (Schwarck) Goetz in Rockwell City. On March 28, 1941, he married Ardella Zierke in Des Moines. She died September 16, 2001. Howard worked as a business manager for Casey General Stores. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Howard was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Masonic Grand Lodge of Iowa and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
