Otto Wayne Blessman, 77, of 315 Paula Lane N.E., went to be with the Lord, Sunday morning, October 12, 2003, following a lengthy illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003, at Central Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Mark Thomas. Entombment: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with military rites. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; his children, John Blessman of Urbandale, Iowa, Linda (Ron) Sampson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Russell (Kristin) Blessman of Polk City, Iowa; a brother, LeRoy Blessman of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; and a sister, Lois Wurster of Clearfield, Iowa.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born March 27, 1926, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John and Grace Roush Blessman, he married Esther Walker on August 1, 1949, in Clearfield, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Army. For many years, he worked in production for Lil? Drug Store Products, retiring from there on March 27, 2001. Previously he also worked for Eagle Foods and Hy-Vee. He was a member of Central Assembly of God Church, Cedar Rapids.
Wayne enjoyed meeting new people and sharing stories with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
