Ostia Shelton, 85, of Central City passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa. Visitation: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Vicki Engelmann. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Ostia is survived by her daughter, Judith (Ray) Shelton-Bailey of Central City; son, Craig (Barbara) Shelton of Lisbon; grandchildren, Mindy Miller, Crystal Shelton, David Forde and Blake Nielsen; granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Shelton; great-grandsons, Grant Nielsen and Ashton Nielsen; and sister, Dee Wasia Orr of Manchester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; grandson, Anthony Shelton; two sisters; two brothers; and a very special friend, Fred Schultz.
Ostia was born October 10, 1930, in Del Rio, Tennessee, the daughter of James F. and Elon (Price) Cogdill. She graduated from Central City High School in 1950. On December 13, 1951, she married Doyle Shelton in Newport, Tennessee. She worked at Collins Radio/Rockwell for 23 years as a forklift operator. Ostia was a member of the United Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family.
