Orville Maynard Ellingson
July 4, 1931 — June 9, 2024
Orville M. Ellingson, 92, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at The Villages of Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City, with full Military Honors by the Troy Mills American Legion and The Iowa Army National Guard.
Orville was born on July 4, 1931, in Ottosen, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Lillian (Habager) Ellingson. After graduating High School, he went on to serve honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1957, Orville was united in marriage to Marie G. Speas in Emmetsburg, Iowa. To this union, three sons were born, Dean, Dale, and David. The couple began farming over 500 acres near Curlew, Iowa. In 1969, they moved near Cedar Rapids, where, in time, they were able to buy a farm near Walker, Iowa, and also a small farm near Lime Springs. He was a member of the American Legion and Bethlehem Evangelist Lutheran Church in Vinton, Iowa. Orville will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Orville is survived and lovingly remembered by his sons, Dean (Mayka) Ellingson, Dale (Diana) Ellingson, and David (Carla) Ellingson; many grandchildren; and brother, Ronald (Marlene)Ellingson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Ellingson; ex-wife, Marie Ellingson; and grandson, Bryant Ellingson.
