Orlo R. Stockman, 94, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the care center, following a lengthy illness. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Brian Dellaert. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Oxford, Iowa.
Survivors include two sons, Ron (Betty) Stockman of Cedar Rapids and Laurance (Berna) Stockman of Dayton, Ohio; a daughter, Susan Thomas of Cedar Rapids; six stepchildren, Jane Hale, Charles Couser, Mike Couser, Patrick Couser, John Couser and Sue Enyart, all of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a brother, Donald Stockman; and a sister, Velva Vitosh.
Orlo was born September 5, 1911, the son of William and Novella (Kaefring) Stockman, in rural Oxford, Iowa. In 1938, Orlo was united in marriage to Helen Scheetz in Cosgrove. She died in December of 1988. He then married Margaret "Peg? Couser in August of 1993. She died in March of 1996. For many years, Orlo and Helen farmed in the Oxford and Ely areas. He also worked for Wilson?s, retiring in 1975. Orlo was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
