Oral D. Sarchett
August 15, 1918 — January 23, 2006
Oral D. Sarchett, 87, a resident of Northbrook Manor, Cedar Rapids, and longtime resident of Center Point, died Monday, January 23, 2006, in the care center. Private graveside services: Center Point Cemetery, at a later date.
Survivors include grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his son, Ron; a brother, Donald; and a granddaughter, Peyton.
Oral was born August 15, 1918, the son of Earl and Viva (Hogelan) Sarchett, in Center Point, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during World War II. In Kahoka, Missouri, Oral was united in marriage to Betty Wheeler in 1941. She died December 2, 1981. For 34 years, he worked for Iowa Manufacturing Co. Oral was a 60-year member of American Dye Benion Legion Post 297 and past member of FOE.
