Ollie Habhab, 79, of Iowa City, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the Veterans Medical Center, Des Moines, following a lengthy illness. There will be no visitation. Graveside services: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Muslim National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by Iman Tahal Tawil. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Lou; his children, Liane Armstrong of Tempe, Arizona, Tim (Bette) Habhab, Tami Habhab, both of Fort Dodge, and Tina Habhab of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren; two brothers Abbass (Bonnie) Habhab of Webster City, Iowa and Sam Habhab of Orange County, California; a sister, Scina (David) Deaver of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Abude Habhab and Hamode Habhab; and four sisters, Adeaba Bedra, Zina Hamod, Olliah Hamod and Meaheaba Aossey.

Ollie was born August 22, 1925, the son of Haj Abbass and Meseda Harp Habhab, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He served with the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Ollie had been an active member of the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids and enjoyed a lengthy visit to Libya volunteering his time with the Islamic Youth.

Ollie was a teacher of life, its lessons and its values. He will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched, young and old alike. Those who knew him loved him; those who didn?t know him will never know him.
