Olive Pauline (Leeper) Harreld, 84, of Manchester, passed away peacefully early in the morning, Saturday, June 9, 2012.
Funeral Services for Pauline will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester with a luncheon to follow at the Manchester Community Center. Family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Strawberry Point.
Pauline was born March 10, 1928 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of William “Paul” and Stella “Marie” (Snyder) Leeper. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1945. On February 17, 1946, Pauline was married to her best friend, Robert “Bob” V. Harreld at the Christian Church in Packwood. The couple farmed in southeast Iowa before moving to a farm north of Manchester in 1960. In the late 70’s, the couple semi-retired and moved near Elkader.
Pauline and Bob were the best of friends and spent many happy years together. After Bob’s death in 1990, Pauline moved to Manchester. She enjoyed many things during her life; her friends, drinking coffee, collecting barns, watching the Cubs and most importantly, spending time with family.
Pauline is survived by two children, Roberta “Bobbie (Richard “Dick”) Curry of Pinebluff, NC and Ruth (Jack) Peyton of Manchester; four grandchildren, Kurt (Jill) Peyton, Kimberly (Travis) Wade, Derek Curry and Brandon Curry; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Claire and Chloe Peyton, Peyton and John Wade and Parker Curry; a sister, Dolores “Cub” Vannoy and a sister-in-law, Helen Leeper both of Ottumwa.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marie Leeper, her husband, Robert Harreld; a brother, Rex Leeper; and a brother-in-law, Richard “Rich” Vannoy.
