Olga Martha Jordan, 87 years and 116 days, of Panora, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at the Kavanagh Hospice House, Des Moines, from complications of Alzheimer’s. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Rev. Roger Ricketts will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Julie) Jordan of Panora and Kevin (Sue) Jordan of Quad Cities; and a granddaughter, Sara Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her siblings, Annette Steck, Thomas Buseman, George Buseman, Onno Buseman and Louise Hunt.
Olga was born June 21, 1921, the daughter of Jacob and Martha (Klosterboer) Buseman, on a farm near Aplington, Iowa. In her childhood days, she grew up in the Grundy Center area. On January 28, 1952, Olga was united in marriage to Edward Jordan. He died in 1966. Olga taught school in a one room country school for a few years. She then worked for the Cedar Rapids Postal Service, retiring in 1989 after 20 years of service. For the last 9 ½ years, Olga has lived with her son Larry.
A longtime member of the Central Park Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed collecting recipes, gardening and watching the Food Network. Olga also was a passionate reader, loving mother and adored by many people.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Central Iowa for the tender loving care given to Olga.
