Olga T. Helle, 90, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly of Earlville, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Visitation: 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a 2:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville, with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, Earlville.
Olga was born February 17, 1927, the daughter of Clem and Oda (Goedken) Bildstein in New Vienna, Iowa. She married Marvin J. Helle on November 18, 1946, in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they farmed north of Earlville until 1970, moving to Earlville, where they owned and operated a milk hauling business and Earlville Oil, until retirement in 1990.
Her favorite past times were dancing, crocheting, playing cards, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include eight children, Linda (Roger) Recker of Manchester, Bonnie (Jim) Knipper of Earlville, Karla (Dick) Jasper of Dyersville, Nancy (Ken) Dunkel of Dyersville, Mary (Al) Hoeger of Delhi, Lyle (Marsha) Helle of Earlville, Dale (Heidi) Helle of Lago Vista, Texas, and Carl (Karen) Helle of Verona, Wisconsin; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jim Helle of Colesburg, and Gene Helle of Manchester.
Olga was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents; parents-in-law, William and Anastacia (Maiers) Helle; siblings: Matt (Adella) Bildstein, Ardella (Monroe) Hoffman, Esther (Gilbert) Digmann, and Henry “Jr.” (Eileen) Bildstein; in-laws, Adella (Matt) Bildstein, Alice (William) Bockenstedt, JoAnn Helle and Esther Helle; one grandson, Todd Dunkel, and one great-granddaughter, Karli Hoeger.
