Nyle E. Ellson, 91, a longtime resident of Marion, died at Mercy Hallmar, Cedar Rapids, on Tuesday, November 18, 2003, from complications of old age. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2003, at Marion Christian Church, by the Rev. Dr. Robert Kunz. Friends may call from 4 - 6 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 20) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include nieces, Venice (Myron) Fish of Shellsburg, and Myrl Pronk of Mason City; nephews, Bus (Pat) Pardun of Florida, and Dr. Donald (Dora-Lee) Kizer of Oklahoma; many great-nieces and -nephews; many great-great nieces; and her special "girls,? Sandy Benedict, Lorna Kuhn, Darlene Nash, Ann Gire and Jean Albers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Ellson; nine brothers and sisters; and her little dog, "Kandi Girl.?
Nyle was born the daughter of Anthony and Lennie (Blair) Pardun on December 24, 1911, in Brandon, Iowa. On March 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to Howard C. Ellson in the Coe College Chapel. He died August 23, 1980. A graduate of Iowa State Teachers College, Nyle taught elementary education in the Alburnett, Dunkerton and Marion Independent school districts. For seventeen years, she was librarian for the Children?s Room at the Marion Public Library and Coe College Library. Nyle was a member of Marion Christian Church.
