Nyal Watson Boyse, 92, of 901 18th Street, Marion, died Saturday evening, September 17, 2005, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, following a six-month illness. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Grant Hagen.
Nyal was born in Kalona on July 4, 1913, to Lee W. and Katherine Watson Boyse. On May 8, 1937, he married Elva M. Brecht, daughter of Charles F. and Elsie Freeman Brecht.
Nyal was employed at the Iowa Electric Light & Power plant and played on the M. & J. Lighters championship baseball team. He farmed near Waubeek and later joined his father in the Livestock Market at Prairieburg.
In 1960 he joined Kensinger Realtors in Marion as a salesman. Then in 1968, he and Elva moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a salesman for Del Webb homes in Sun City until his retirement in 1976.
Nyal is survived by his wife, Elva; a son, Gary (Janice) Boyse of Scottsdale, Arizona; a daughter, Karen (Roy) Wright of Coggon; six grandchildren, Colin (Britt) Boyse, Steven (Dana) Boyse, Randy (Michelle) Boyse, and Jayson (Mary) Boyse, all of Phoenix, Arizona, Krista (Mark) Stepanek of Quasqueton and Rhonda (Rod) Peyton of Walker; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia McCray of Lake Park, Georgia; and a brother, Donn (Dixie) Boyse of Alburnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, Keith and Kenneth; and a sister, Shirley (Kenneth) Wear.
Nyal was interested in all sports but especially golf. He enjoyed travel, card-playing and music. Above all, he loved and enjoyed his family.
