Norris Brashear, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at his home. A private family service will be held. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Callene Brashear of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; children, Rob (Allison) Brashear of San Diego, California, Rhonda (David) Lichnerowicz of Amana, Iowa, Brenda McKay of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Adam, Ryan, Josh, Luke, Hannah and Noah; four great-grandchildren, Chance, Gavin, Elliana and Lyla; sisters, Grace Jones and Martha Fritch, both of Texas; and his beloved pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Redmond; and brother, Horace Brashear

Norris was born on March 17, 1944, in Memphis, Tennessee, son of Ethraim and Ilene (Tabor) Brashear. He attended McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. On January 27, 1962, he married Callene Alexander in Cedar Rapids. Norris worked for Downey Box Factory, then Cherry Burrell for 20 years, and later was a self-employed entrepreneur. He loved buying and fixing up cars to sell and was a carpenter building their and his children’s houses. Norris was a jack-of-all-trades and was very knowledgeable and was always willing to help.
