Norman C. Willett, 64, of 5433 Klinger Street SW, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Veteran?s Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Vernon Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, with military rites by the Mount Vernon American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter, Dusty Walker and husband Matthew of Cedar Rapids; Shirley Kness of Cedar Rapids; four stepchildren, Pamijean Furnish, Jim Furnish, Julie Furnish and Cassie and Chris Riha, all of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, James Willett and wife Shirley of Alburnett and Robert Glenn Willett and wife Mary Ann of Mechanicsville; a sister, Mary Smith of Mechanicsville; and many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Norman was born June 2, 1939, the son of Lonnie and Lillie (Ricker) Willett, in Greeneville, Tennesee. He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

For 23 years, Norman was a factory worker for Harnischfeger in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Norman also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, in memory of Norman.
