A man that always had a kind word a smile and a laugh. His warm smile was contagious. He loved his family, all children, a good western, a hot cup of tea and a cookie. He was a man of excellence. Norman Watson, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully at home in his sleep with his son Dave by his side on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
Survivors include his children, Kathryn V. Hixon, John D. Green, Sally J. Metzber and David M. Watson; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois Gertrude Watson; and son, William H. Green.
Norman was born on January 18, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan, son of David and Mary Watson. He was a graduate of the Henry Ford Trade School class of 1938. He was united in marriage to Lois Gertrude on September 30, 1950. Lois was from Adrian, Michigan, they were married for 51 years and she later passed on November 24, 2001. Norman worked for 28 years for Consumer’s Power Gas and Electric and also over 10 years at St. Luke’s Hospital in the maintenance department.
