Norman F. Smith, 79, of Waterville, Minnesota, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died there Tuesday, September 12, 2006, following a short illness. Private family services will be held in Waterville, Minnesota. Local arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (James) Lisk of Vinton; three sons, Bill (Kim) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Russell (Sharon) Smith of Hiawatha and David (Linda) Smith of Brooklyn, Iowa; friend, Barb Becicka of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Janet (Robert) Beck of Cedar Rapids, Carolyn Carsello of Wisconsin and Normalyn McNamara of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and son, Robert Harry Smith.
Norman was born August 8, 1927, in Malcolm, Iowa, the son of Darwin and Edna (Hubbard) Smith. On December 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Minnie Mae Hesse in Cedar Rapids. He worked in maintenance for over 40 years at Quaker Oats.
Norman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling.
