Norman “Norm” Richard Nielson, 88, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at The Views of Marion. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion. Private family services will be held at a later date, with a private inurnment following at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Marion.

Norm was born on May 21, 1934, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Harry and Doris (Fagle) Nielson. He was a graduate of Marion High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. On November 8, 1957, Norm was united in marriage to Dora Johnson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a farmer all of his life and also worked for the Cedar Rapids Grain Service, until his retirement in 1996. Norm was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church. His passions were farming and doing yard work. Norm enjoyed watching football and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Norm is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Dora Nielson of Marion; four children, Laura (Jeff) Novak of Alburnett, Iowa, Bob (Terri) Nielson of Vermillion, South Dakota, Jeff (Karla) Nielson of St. Charles, Illinois, and Greg (Natalie) Nielson of Sugarland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Nielson of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
