Norman Morris Green

Norman Morris Green, 82, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Norman was born on March 9, 1940, in Beech Grove, Indiana, the son of Morris and Ruth (Noggle) Green. He was a 1958 graduate of Franklin Township High School.
In 1961 Norman was united in marriage to Maria Rostanzo. To this union three children, Kelli, Garry and Beth were born. Norman and Maria later divorced. On February 26, 1972, Norman was united in marriage to Tresa Heinzman. To this union one child, Stacy, was born.
Norman was a farmer in Indianapolis, Indiana, and then went on to haul grain in Stockport, Iowa. One of Norman's biggest passions was participating in national tractor pulls, which won him many accolades. Known in the pulling community as “Stormin’ Norman,” he was also a member of the trio dubbed, “The Quad Squad." They were inducted into the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) Hall of Fame in 2013 for being the first to put four turbochargers on a pulling tractor in the ‘70’s. Norman also served on both the NTPA Full Board and NTPA Executive Board from the mid-70s through the mid-80s.
Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved his annual family fishing trips to Satko’s Resort in Deer River, Minnesota, where he began vacationing as a child and continued throughout his lifetime. Norman was an avid NASCAR fan. He was also a basketball fan who enjoyed watching Golden State and the 90’s Chicago Bulls.
Norman is survived and lovingly remembered by his four children, Kelli Klingerman, Garry Green and Beth Green, all of Indiana, and Stacy (Rob) Whisenand of Marion, Iowa; two stepchildren, Debbie Craig of Tennessee, and Shawn Messenger of Indiana; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; two siblings, Martha Green of Indiana, and Mike (Mary K) Green of Kentucky; as well as many nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Tresa Green; sister, Donna Barker; brother-in-law, Jim Barker, nephew Ross Barker; and two step-sons, Kevin Messenger and Jeff Messenger.
A celebration of Norman's life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Reserves of Timber's Edge Clubhouse, 880 Ravenwood Drive, Greenwood, Indiana, 46142.
Norman will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
