Norman D. Beason, 72, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Roger?s Grove Cemetery, Rural Ely, Iowa, with military rites.

Survivors include a brother, Leslie "Les? Beason of Cedar Rapids; two daughters; and a son.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, George Beason, Ramona Beason and Robert Beason.

Norman was born April 19, 1932, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Robert R. and Daisy S. (Arment) Beason. He worked for Wilson Foods as an accountant. Norman served in the Army during the Korean War. On June 12, 1955, Norman and Donna Jean Grimm were married and to this union two daughters were born, Ramona S. Beason and Deborah Sue Beason. He and Donna later divorced. On December 7, 1964, Norman married Lavon Morris and they had one child, Michael Dean Beason. They also later divorced. Norman was a great supporter of the American Legion. He was also a very good bowler and was on several championship teams. Bowling was one of Norman?s favorite past times.
