Norma Jean Townsend (Watters)
June 21, 1936 — August 1, 2008
Norma J. Townsend, 72, of Springville, died, Friday August 1, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Jack Ray. The family will greet friends from 2 - 6 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial: Springville Cemetery, Springville, Iowa.
Survivors include two sons, Willis Jr. Townsend of Scotch Grove and Jeffrey (Kathy) Townsend of Park Rapids, Minnesota; one daughter, Teresa (Dale) Townsend Miller of Des Moines; and one grandson, Zeb Townsend of Des Moines. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother and one sister.
Norma was born June 21, 1936, the daughter of John and Loraine Watters, in Anamosa, Iowa. She married Willis Wyatt Townsend on May 12, 1956. He died October 13, 2007. Norma was an Avon representative for 25 years and had also worked at St. Luke’s in the housekeeping department. Norma loved spending time in her garden taking care of her flowers.
A memorial fund has been established in Norma’s name.
