Norma Jean Price (Schlegel)

Norma Jean Price, 77, of 940 20th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, February 3, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Daniel Winn. Friends may call from 4 to 8 Friday, February 8, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Terry Thomsen of Marion and Michael (Darlene) Price of Liberty, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Schlegel; brother-in-law, Marvin “Barney” Bachman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buddy; brothers, Vernon Schlegel and Wesley Schlegel; and sisters, Velma Bachman and Donna Smyth.
Norma was born September 15, 1930, in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Inez (McMullen) Schlegel. On March 7, 1951, in Geneva, Alabama, she was united in marriage to Buddy Price. He died in 1991. Norma was a homemaker and worked for their home business as well as United Fire & Casualty and Mercy Hospital printing shop.
She was an avid Hawkeye football and basketball fan. Norma was very giving and compassionate with a strong, caring and generous nature. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Norma’s memory.
