Norma Jene Paul, 76, a resident of the Central City and Alburnett area, died Friday, October 22, 2004, in Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, following a lingering illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Alice United Methodist Church, rural Center Point, by the Rev. Leo Anderson. Burial: Lafayette Cemetery, rural Alburnett. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Surviving are her husband of sixty years, Kenneth; her children, Karen (Raymond) Frerick of Cedar Rapids, Sandra Harms of North Liberty, Judith Schatzle of Marion, Janene (Lon) Oliphant of Toddville, Kenneth (Jill) Paul of Marion, Evan (Trisha) Paul of Center Point and a special foster son, Lonnie Wells of Pittsburgh, Kansas, two brothers, James (Nancy) Fare of Cedar Rapids and Ray Fare Jr.of Versailles, Missouri.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Susan (David) Grebasch, Robert Harms, Jared Schatzle, Summer (Terry) Thompson, Daniel (Tami) Oliphant, Jenna Oliphant, Andrew, Nicholas and Mitchell Paul, Mark, Amber and Heather Paul, Bryan Hines and Alyssa Davis; and her great-grandchildren, Dean Harryman and Catelyne, Alec and Abagail Olipant. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Velma Hoffman and Lois Eischer, two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Fare and John Fare and a son-in-law, Edwin Harms.
Norma was born the daughter of Ray and Anna Mae (Christman) Fare Sr. on April 25, 1928, in St. Joseph, Missouri. On September 10, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ted Paul. She was a homemaker and was a waitress at the restaurant in Alburnett for many years.
Norma was a member of the Missionary Club, You-Go-I-Go Club, Alburnett Book Club and an active member of Alice United Methodist Church.
Norma enjoyed time spent doing crafts with the neighborhood ladies and loved to read. She had a wonderful sense of humor with an infectious laugh. Her family was first and foremost.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Norma?s memory.
