Norma Jean Oliphant, 73, of 1504 Washington St. Vinton, formerly of Center Point, died Wednesday, September 25, 2002, following an extended illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point by the Rev John Caughron. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 27 at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Oliphant Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; a daughter, Deborah and husband Harlan Koopman of Center Point; two grandchildren, Tiffany of Marion and Justin of TN.; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marion and Arthur Hart and Albert and Tolato Hughes, who raised her.
Norma was born October 2, 1928, to Foster and Anna Johnson Hart. She married Jack Oliphant on April 4, 1948 in Anamosa, IA. She worked for Northwestern Bell from 1964 to 1975. She enjoyed raising Arabian horses and was a gifted artist. Norma will be greatly missed by her husband and family.
