Norma D. Meyer, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, in her home. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Debra Dzierba of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and Dixie Pineda of Hobart, Indiana; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Lyndie and Kristina Walton, Sarah and Chad Jr. Dzierba, Dakota Pineda and Julian Gonzalez; a great-great-grandchild, Brooklynn Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; son, Dennis; and three brothers, Myron “Spike”, Harland and Earl Johnson.
Norma was born January 14, 1924, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Moe) Johnson, near Waukon, Iowa. A 1941 graduate from Waukon High School, she was united in marriage to Leonard Meyer. He died in 1987. Norma worked at Collins Radio as an assembler.
A member of Hope Lutheran Church, Norma was also an election worker. She enjoyed playing bingo and the lottery.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Norma.
