Norma G. Knapp, 93, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, Marion, formerly of Central City, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 17, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 2 – 5 p.m., Sunday, May 16, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Hoffman of Marion, Don (Jane) Knapp of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Judy) Knapp of Harlan, Karen (Darrell) Kintzle of Hiawatha, and Dave (Gea) Knapp of Walker; 19 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ardith Smith and Hilda Martin, both of Alburnett, Clellan Smith of Olin, and Wayne Smith of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Cledith, Donald, Aubrey, Lowell and Faye; and sons-in-law Dean & Kenneth Hoffman.
Norma was born July 3, 1916, the daughter of George and Gertrude Smith, in Central City, Iowa. She graduated from Central City High School in 1935 and married Howard Knapp on August 9, 1937 in Cedar Rapids. He died October 24, 1990. Norma worked at Collins Radio and had owned and operated Little Chef Restaurant in Central City for many years. She will best be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her work-ethic, and her love for her family.
